Hi! I'm Eva, the Mommy behind SMHB. And I was not always smart (enough). I paid attention to what I put inside my body and I had been eating organic or natural foods for the better part of a decade; no hydrogenated oils or processed foods in this household. Yet somehow what I put on my body and what I used in my environment did not get the same attention.
Four years ago we decided to have a baby, and I started looking for the best stretch mark cream and foot lotion to use during and after pregnancy. However, just a few hours into my research I realized that there are things much more important than the potential appearance of stretch marks on my soon-to-be-growing belly - and I never looked back. Parabens, petrolatum, DEA, DMDM hydantoin and I could go on forever (and I do - click here). I researched personal care products and ingredients for weeks and quickly added baby care products, nursery products, toys, cleaning products and so on. Soon, I filled three notebooks with my research and it was at that point that I decided to put it all together in a web site so that other concerned parents and parents-to-be can benefit from my past research and ongong efforts and use this site as a time-saving resource when making purchasing decisions.
